About Wilson Lane

Wilson Lane projects an image of today’s prosperity, not be mimicking iconic heritage buildings, but by responding to the way we connect as a community and by adopting modern materials and construction methodologies that reflect our progressive and vibrant city.

Gold boom Bendigo produced a number of impeccably constructed and beautifully ornate buildings of grand proportions that reflected the prosperity of those times.

150 years after their construction, buildings such as the Bendigo Town Hall (1859, 1883-85), Post Office, Law Courts (1892-96), Shamrock Hotel (1897) and Former Colonial Bank Building (1887) are a celebrated part of our urban landscape.

This period of architecture celebrated a quality of materials and a clear, articulated system of openings and façade language which provided an engaging public interface.

Award winning BKK Architects have identified some of the language of this architecture to offer a contemporary interpretation that references, rather than replicates these historic gems.

Wilson Lane, along with other recent additions to Bendigo’s CBD such as the Art Gallery, Ulumbarra Theatre, Bendigo Library and the Headquarters of the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank project an image of today’s prosperity, not by mimicking older buildings, but by responding to the way we connect as a community and by adopting modern materials and construction methodologies that reflect our progressive and vibrant city.
