Meet Brooke Lawrance - Copywriter and multi-tasking extraordinaire

Brooke shares some of the most valuable lessons she's learned throughout her career and talks about what inspires her. We also get a glimpse into a typical day in her role in client services, where she ensures the smooth running of sales campaigns. Plus, she tells us about her love for Bendigo and what she would be doing if she wasn't working in real estate. So, let's dive in and get to know her a little better.

Most valuable career lesson you have learnt?

Surround yourself with like-minded people who share your values and ethics so you’re not swimming against the current.

What did your career pathway into Real Estate look like?

My Real Estate journey began when I was in my early twenties and landed a Receptionist position at an Agency in the Docklands. The energy was intoxicating and I fell in love instantly.

Who inspires you?

My kids. True to the nature of all children, they are incessantly curious and question everything which, in turn, encourages me to question things and explore different outcomes. They are fearless whereas I am risk averse so they challenge me to be more creative and confident.

Three people you would invite to a dinner party and why?

Jane Harper, for her stories. Joni Mitchell, because by my age she’d already recorded from Both Sides Now so she’d have great perspective and I could listen to her voice forever. And Kevin Costner, for dessert.

Who would play you in a movie?

A colleague once told me I have an uncanny resemblance to Juno Temple. I’m not sure I see it, but I would happily have her play me in a movie.

What’s the best advice you have ever received?

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own, and you know what you know. And you are the guy who’ll decide where to go. - Dr Seuss

What does a typical day in Client Services look like?

Well first we get clearance with the Trust Accounting, send off paperwork for a spoil and get uncontested possession of a listing, tackle Sales Agents for information, and get a clean disposal of contracts off to the solicitors who are ready and waiting in the wing. We’re the man on the mark when an offer is accepted, ensure every sale goes straight up the guts, keep an eye on the goalposts; no behinds. We’re there to get the rebounds, stop anything from going out on the full and we get the ball inside-50. Then we pass it off to the full forward for the glory shot.

Kidding! But it’s definitely worthy of the Norm Smith.

What would you be doing if you weren’t working in Real Estate

Co-hosting Gardening Australia with Costa Georgiadis or singing nursery rhymes on Play School with Big Ted.

What do you love most about Bendigo?

I love the accessibility and convenience of city living but with country town charm. Having young children has really opened my eyes to just how much is available in Bendigo to keep us all active, entertained and involved in the community.
